Product Description

HERBS: Treat yourself to fresh herbs right from your garden! The difference when home grown is impressive! All are excellent for adding distinctive flavor to meat, and fish dishes, gravies, soups, salads and vegetables. They are fun to grow and make an attractive garden addition! Eucalyptus is an enormous and fascinating genus. It comprises over 700 species, and accounts for more than two-thirds of Australia's vegetation. It is unfortunate that they are frequently regarded as not being reliably hardy outside of the subtropics, because it discourages people from planting them in cooler areas. There are many reasons to plant a eucalyptus--to begin with, they help to control aphids and other insects, most of them will grow rapidly, even in poor soil (12' per year is not out of the question), and most of them are very attractive--eucalyptus have a beauty all their own. And eucalyptus foliage, which shows incredible variety, is excellent for cut foliage in floral arrangements. Unless it is to be grown as a pot plant for its entire life (more on that below), a eucalyptus seedling must be planted as soon as possible, before too many roots reach the edges and bottom of its pot. Eucalyptus ought to be planted when they are no more than 8 - 14 inches in height. This tree is a native of Australia, but nowadays it is popular in European and American ornamental gardens. The foliage has an attractive silvery-bluish colour and a fine, aromatic fragrance which keeps gnats at bay. Growth is extremely rapid. Culture: Sun or part shade. Hardy in zones 7-10. Can also be grown as a patio plant, outdoors in the summer, indoors in the winter. Uses: Ornamental plantings, hedges or windbreaks, shade trees, firewood, cut flowers, foliage and fruits, frost-resistant plant. Definitely one you should have!

The other review that talked about the seeds being powder was half right. they are VERY small seeds, mixed in with a powder-like something. i have bought two ‘packages’ of these seeds, and from the first set, i got one sprout straight away. i think i over watered it though and it died. these seeds seem REALLY hardly to germinate, and is that the fault of the seller? we’ll see what happens with the second batch, but growing stuff from seeds is hard. especially these. keep the soil pretty dry, and a little sandy.

Hi folks. Im from south dakota. We get bad snow and ice storms here each year so this plant will definitely be remaining potted for its life. I do landscaping for the university of south dakota and most will be donated to the school once mature. I use a shallow and wide square pot with a professional seeding mix. Put the seeds on top of the soil as directions indicated. Took awhile but we finally have signs of life 5 seeds sprouted out of the 20 so far. However many of the other seeds we started are being sluggish as well and we think it might be the seed starting mix. We use a warming table set at 75 degrees and i cant stress how important this is for a plant like this. You must be able to keep the soil tempterature up fairly high. As they get older i will come back with pictures of how they turned out. =)

I planted these last week, and 11 of the 20 have sprouted, but I think a couple got washed away when I first watered them. They are little red looking sprouts. I have heard that this tree is hard to take care of when young, but I suppose it is not much different from a baby who needs utmost attention when young, and less as the age. We’ll see what happens.

I purchased these seeds despite the mixed reviews. The packaging was adequate and I followed the written directions word for word. I was able to get 16 of the 20 seeds to germinate over a two month period. I did have to pull one seedling due to a fungus so I did not infect the rest of the plants. I am transplanting the seedlings now but overall I am very satisfied with the results. I used a mix of an organic seed starter and desert sand (50/50) and watered them once a week. Both were purchased locally.

I read at a Russian website that the seeds must not be buried as they need light to germinate, also they’re sown February-March and the soil has to be kept warm. Underwatering or overwatering is also harmful, and they need plenty of light and relatively low temperatures (about 18C in summer). Also clean air and no cold drafts, and they rarely bloom in a room. I think I’m going to try, because imagine a fairy blue bonsai :) And no need of Raid in the summer :P

well i planted about 7 of wat looks like seeds, so i waited very patiently, took about ah month or more so to germinate, well only 1 sprouted out of the 7. Well it is currently about 6 or 7 inches so it smell like Eucalyptus so i guess it is.Just waiting to actually see it go blue. [...]

Update : i don’t think i hv the correct “Cider Gum Eucalyptus Tree”, mine is still green/silverish, can some1 verify if this is the early stage of the plant? & will it eventually turn blue????

I purchased these seeds, and I now have 7 lovely specimens growing. I have them out in the sun on sunny days, in a cocoa lined pot, and bring them in on cloudy/rainy days and they are under grow lights. The cocoa liner is so that I can transplant it into it’s final place without disturbing the roots. I love the way the plants are looking.
